Product Introduction
Turpentine Oil (CAS 8006-64-2), also known as Gum Turpentine or Spirits of Turpentine, is a fluid obtained by the complex distillation of resin harvested from living pine trees. It is a clear, colorless liquid with a strong, characteristic pine odor. Chemically, it is a mixture of cyclic terpene hydrocarbons, predominantly alpha-pinene and beta-pinene. Unlike petroleum-based mineral spirits, Turpentine Oil (CAS 8006-64-2) is a renewable, bio-based solvent with superior solvency for oils and natural resins, making it indispensable in the fine arts and industrial coating sectors.
Product Selling Points
-
Natural Bio-Based Solvent: Derived from renewable pine forests, offering an eco-friendly alternative to petroleum-derived thinners.
-
Exceptional Solvency: Higher solvency power for natural resins, waxes, and oils compared to white spirit or mineral spirits.
-
Controlled Evaporation Rate: Provides excellent leveling and flow properties for high-end varnishes and traditional oil paints.
-
High Alpha-Pinene Content (≥ 70%): Chemfine ensures a high-purity terpene profile, essential for chemical synthesis.
-
Versatile Chemical Feedstock: Acts as the primary starting material for the synthesis of camphor, terpineol, and various fragrance components.
-
Standard Industrial Quality: Our oil is steam-distilled and filtered to ensure it is free from water and sediment.
Applications
Paint and Varnish Solvent Functions as a premium thinner for oil-based paints and natural resin varnishes, providing a smooth finish and superior adhesion to wood surfaces.
Fragrance and Flavor Synthesis Acts as a key raw material for the chemical production of synthetic camphor, geraniol, and other aromatic compounds used in the cosmetic industry.
Industrial Cleaning and Degreasing Used as a powerful, bio-based degreaser for removing heavy resins, waxes, and oils from industrial machinery and precision tools.
Rubber and Adhesive Formulation Utilized as a tackifier and solvent in the production of natural rubber-based adhesives and specialized resinous sealants.
Traditional Wood Treatment Applied in combination with linseed oil or beeswax to create deep-penetrating, protective finishes for high-quality wooden furniture and flooring.
Packaging
Standard industrial packaging options for Turpentine Oil include:
-
190kg tight-head steel drums (Standard export packaging).
-
950kg IBC tanks for large-scale manufacturing and blending facilities.
-
ISO Tanks for bulk international maritime shipments.
-
All packaging is treated with internal anti-corrosive coatings and sealed to prevent oxidation and loss of volatile terpenes.
Storage
Turpentine Oil is a flammable liquid and is sensitive to oxidation. It must be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse away from heat, sparks, and open flames. Store in a dedicated flammable liquids area with secondary containment. Keep containers tightly sealed and protected from direct sunlight to prevent the oil from yellowing. Store away from strong oxidizing agents and mineral acids. Properly stored, it has a shelf life of at least 12–18 months.
