Product Description

Trimethyl borate TMB CAS 121-43-7
Trimethyl borate (TMB) is a volatile boron ester and reagent used as a methylating/boronating agent, a molecular boron source for catalyst preparation and a reagent/solvent in specialty organic syntheses. It is supplied as a moisture-sensitive, colorless liquid and is selected where a low-residue, easily removed boron donor is required. Handling requires moisture control and standard laboratory/industrial solvent precautions.

Applications

  • Methylating and boron-donor reagent — used for methylation/boronation reactions in organic synthesis.

  • Catalyst precursor & boron source — used to introduce boron in catalyst formulations and material precursors.

  • Specialty solvent / reagent — applied where a low-residue boron ester is required (laboratory and small-scale synthesis).

  • Intermediate for flame-retardant and boron-containing materials — precursor chemistry for specialty additives.

  • Analytical reagent and R&D — standards, method development and small-scale research use.
