Triethyl borate CAS 150-46-9
Triethyl borate (also known as triethoxyborane) is a volatile borate ester supplied as a colorless, moisture-sensitive liquid. It is employed as a boron donor and reagent in organic synthesis, as a precursor for boron-containing catalysts and materials, and as a specialty solvent/reagent where low-residue boron donation is required. Handle under dry, ventilated conditions and control sources of ignition.
Applications
- Boron source & reagent
Used to introduce boron into organoboron intermediates, catalyst precursors and specialty boron-containing materials. - Methyl/alkyl borate reagent & transesterification chemistry
Employed in syntheses where a volatile borate ester is used as reagent or transient protecting/activating species. - Catalyst precursor preparation
Used in preparation and impregnation of boron-doped catalyst supports and ligand systems. - Specialty solvent / low-residue reagent
Applied where volatility and low non-volatile residue are required for downstream processing or purification. - Analytical / R&D reagent
Supplied for lab-scale method development, small-scale synthesis and analytical standardization.
