Product introduction
p-Phenylenediamine (para-phenylenediamine; abbreviation PPD; CAS 106-50-3) is an aromatic diamine supplied commercially as white to pale brown crystalline flakes or powder that may darken on exposure to air. It is a high-value organic intermediate used primarily in the manufacture of oxidative dyes (including hair-colour precursors under controlled formulation), pigments and specialty polymer additives. PPD is also used in chemical synthesis routes where a para-diamino aromatic unit is required. Product is offered in technical and reagent grades; request lot Certificate of Analysis (CoA) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) prior to procurement and use.
Uses
-
Oxidative Dye Intermediate — Used as a primary coupling/precursor monomer in oxidative dye systems for textile and specialty colours.
-
Hair-Colour Precursor (Industrial Formulations) — Intermediate in professional hair-colour oxidative chemistry (subject to regulatory and formulation restrictions).
-
Pigment And Dye Manufacturing — Building block for azo, direct and specialty pigment syntheses.
-
Polymer Additive Intermediate — Precursor for antioxidants, vulcanisation accelerators and other functional polymer additives.
-
Analytical Reagent / Laboratory Use — Reagent for synthetic routes, method development and analytical standards.
-
Specialty Chemical Synthesis — Used to produce heterocycles, ligands and other para-diamino aromatic derivatives.
