Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) is a reactive acrylic monomer used as the primary feedstock for polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and as a co-monomer or reactive diluent in coatings, adhesives, sealants and specialty polymers. It offers rapid polymerizability, excellent optical clarity in polymers and broad compatibility with acrylic and methacrylic systems.
Applications
-
PMMA production
Primary monomer for manufacture of polymethyl methacrylate (acrylic glass) used in sheets, castings and optical components. -
Acrylic coatings & paints
Used as monomer or reactive diluent in high-performance coatings, lacquers and UV-curable systems to impart hardness and clarity. -
Adhesives & sealants
Feedstock for structural acrylate adhesives, reactive hot-melt systems and sealants requiring fast cure and strong adhesion. -
Copolymer production
Co-monomer in styrene/acrylic and other copolymer systems for tailored mechanical and optical properties. -
Casting & casting compounds
Used in cast polymer formulations for optics, glazing, displays and specialty cast articles. -
Functional monomer for specialty polymers
Reactive monomer for surface modification, grafting and formulation of specialty/responsive polymers.
