Methanesulfonic acid (MSA) is a strong, non-oxidizing organic sulfonic acid used as a robust acid catalyst and process acid in industrial chemistry. It is supplied in concentrated liquid grades with documented COA and is valued for low vapor pressure, high acidity and compatibility with many organic process streams.
Applications
-
Acid catalyst for esterification and alkylation
Used as a highly active, non-oxidizing catalyst for esterification, transesterification and other acid-catalysed conversions in industrial syntheses. -
Electroplating & metal finishing
Preferred process acid for tin, tin-lead and other plating baths owing to good metal solubility and reduced corrosive by-products. -
Descaling, rust & scale removal
Used in commercial descalers and surface cleaners to remove oxides, rust and mineral scale from ceramics, tiles and metal surfaces. -
Polymerisation & resin chemistry
Employed as a catalyst or co-agent in select polymerisation and resin modification processes where controlled acidity is required. -
Electrolyte / specialty battery formulations
Utilized as a component in specialty electrolyte and conductive formulations for some advanced energy/storage systems. -
Process cleaner & surface treatment
Applied in precision cleaning, pickling and surface-conditioning processes where non-oxidizing strong acid is required.
