Lithium hydroxide LiOH CAS 1310-65-2
Lithium hydroxide (LiOH) is a white, hygroscopic inorganic hydroxide supplied in anhydrous and monohydrate grades. It is a strong base used as a key precursor for lithium-ion battery cathode materials, in fine-chemical synthesis, alkaline process chemistry, CO₂ scrubbers, and as a pH-adjuster and reagent in industrial processes. Handle per standard corrosive/alkali controls and avoid moisture/CO₂ exposure for anhydrous material.
Applications
- Battery cathode precursor
Used to produce lithium-rich cathode precursors (LCO, NMC, LFP processes) and as a feedstock for battery-grade lithium salts. - CO₂ scrubbers & gas purification
Applied in closed-loop CO₂ removal systems and scrubbers owing to LiOH’s CO₂ chemisorption capacity in selected configurations. - Chemical synthesis & fine chemicals
Employed as a strong base for organic and inorganic syntheses, including deprotonations, condensations and salt preparations. - Alkaline process chemistry & pH control
Used to adjust alkalinity in specialty processes where lithium cation benefits product performance or downstream chemistry. - Ceramics, glass & metallurgical uses
Used as a flux or modifier in specialty glass and ceramic formulations where lithium content is required. - R&D and analytical reagent
Supplied for laboratory method development, analytical standards and pilot trials in battery and materials research.
