Lithium fluoride (LiF, CAS 7789-24-4) is an inorganic crystalline fluoride salt used as an optical material, industrial flux, reagent and specialty additive. It is supplied in technical and reagent grades with controlled impurity profiles for manufacturing, laboratory and downstream processing.
Application
- Optical materials & UV windows
High-purity LiF crystals and polished components are used for UV and VUV optics due to wide transmission band and high band-gap. - Ceramics & glass flux additive
Used to modify melting characteristics and thermal behavior in specialty ceramic and glass formulations. - Metallurgical flux & brazing agents
Serves as a low-melting fluoride flux component in selected brazing, soldering and metal surface treatments. - Battery & electrolyte precursor (specialty)
Used as a precursor or additive in certain lithium-based electrolyte formulations and research applications. - Fluorination reagent and chemical intermediate
Source of fluoride in selected inorganic and organic syntheses where a solid fluoride salt is preferred. - Analytical standard & laboratory reagent
Provided as a reference material or reagent for analytical methods and method development.
