Product introduction
Isopropyl Alcohol (2-propanol; abbreviation IPA; CAS 67-63-0) is a clear, colourless, flammable liquid widely used as a mid-volatility polar organic solvent, cleaning/degreasing agent and formulation component. Commercial grades span technical, reagent and high-purity specifications; typical commercial material is supplied stabilized and accompanied by a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS). Select grade based on residual water content, specified impurities and regulatory requirements for the intended application.
Applications & Descriptions
-
Solvent For Coatings & Inks
Used as a formulation solvent and co-solvent to adjust viscosity, improve flash-off and enhance drying and film formation in specialty coatings, inks and surface finishes. -
Cleaning And Degreasing
Employed in precision cleaning, electronics cleaning and general-purpose degreasing to remove oils, flux residues and particulates owing to good solvency and fast evaporation. -
Pharmaceutical & Chemical Intermediate
Used as a process solvent and intermediate in fine-chemical and pharmaceutical syntheses where a mid-polarity, low-residue solvent is required (select appropriate grade and comply with regulatory standards). -
Antiseptic And Disinfectant Component
In formulated antiseptic and disinfectant products (where permitted and regulated), IPA functions as an active solvent component contributing to microbial control in controlled, compliant formulations. -
Laboratory / Analytical Reagent
Serves as a reagent and solvent in analytical methods, sample preparation and instrument rinsing where low residue and volatility are beneficial. -
Cosmetic & Personal-Care Formulations
Used as a solvent, denaturant or evaporation enhancer in select personal-care and cosmetic product formulations subject to regulatory and safety constraints.
