Product Introduction
Ethylenediamine (CAS 107-15-3), commonly known as EDA, is a basic organic compound with the formula C2H8N2 (or NH2CH2CH2NH2). It is a colorless, strongly alkaline liquid with an ammonia-like odor that fumes in moist air. As a primary diamine, it is a versatile building block used extensively in the synthesis of chelating agents, fabric softeners, fungicides, and specialized polymers.
Applications
Chelating Agents The primary raw material for manufacturing EDTA (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) and its salts, used in water treatment, detergents, and pulp processing.
Polymer & Resins Used as a curing agent for epoxy resins and as a component in the production of polyamide resins and polyurethanes.
Agrochemicals A key intermediate for producing ethylenebisdithiocarbamate (EBDC) fungicides like Maneb and Zineb.
Textiles & Surfactants Utilized to create fabric finishes, softeners, and surfactants that provide anti-static and softening properties to fibers.
Pharmaceuticals Used as a reactant in the synthesis of various drugs, including antihistamines and aminophylline.
Packaging & Storage
-
Packaging: 180kg UN-certified steel drums, IBC tanks, or stainless steel ISO tanks.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated hazardous materials warehouse. Keep away from heat, sparks, and open flames. EDA is hygroscopic and absorbs CO2 from air; containers must be tightly sealed and preferably blanketed with nitrogen.
